Consular Processing

Applying for a visa at a US consulate

Fanfare Projects offers a specialized service to assist performing artists with the consular processing steps of their US work visas, separate from our visa petition preparation service. Our consular processing support includes guidance on completing the DS-160 form, scheduling embassy interviews, and preparing all necessary documentation, such as your passport, visa fee receipt, and Form I-797 approval notice. With our expertise, you can confidently navigate the visa application process, ensuring a higher chance of success and a smooth entry into the US.

This application involves several key steps:

  1. Complete DS-160 Form: Each artist must complete the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (Form DS-160). This form requires personal information, details about the trip to the US, and other background information.
  2. Pay Visa Application Fee: The visa application fee, also known as the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee, must be paid. The amount varies depending on the type of visa.
  3. Determine Whether Reciprocity Restrictions Apply: Certain countries are subject to restrictions on their visa validity. Knowing when and where these restrictions may apply is an essential part of applying at a US Embassy or consulate.
  4. Schedule a Visa Interview: The artist must schedule an appointment for a visa interview at a US Embassy or consulate. Wait times for interview appointments can vary, so it is advisable to schedule as early as possible.
  5. Prepare Documentation: Gather all necessary documentation, which typically includes:
    • Valid passport
    • Form DS-160 confirmation page
    • Visa application fee payment receipt
    • Form I-797 approval notice
    • Photographs that meet US visa requirements
    • Proof of ties to the home country (to demonstrate intent to return after the stay in the US)
    • Any additional documents requested by the consulate
  6. Attend Visa Interview: During the interview, a consular officer will ask questions about the artist's background, purpose of the trip, and plans in the US. The officer will also review the submitted documents. It is important to answer all questions truthfully and provide clear and concise information.

By following these steps, performing artists can successfully complete the consular application process for US work visas after their petitions are approved. If you need additional support with the consular process, contact us to learn how we can assist you.
